Punggol Waterway Sunday, 21 July 2013 @ 00:05
Hey guys~
One of the sites I'm going to introduce is the PUNGGOL WATERWAY
Just a side note, Punggol used to be a fishing village, having lots of pig and poultry farms as well as vegetable plantations.

The above picture shows one of the toilets at a Punggol farmhouse in the past.
My Waterway @ Punggol, is a joint agency project between HDB and NParks.
The Waterway increases the park and water frontage for the housing estates, as well as providing a clean and green environment for the residents living in punggol.
There are 4 themes in the Punggol Waterway:
- Nature Cove
- Recreation Zone
- Heritage Zone
- Green Gallery
1.Nature Cove: one will be able to relax and enjoy the view of the Waterway. Leisure activities can also be carried out at the lawn areas.
The above picture is the lawn area available at Nature Cove
2.Recreation Zone: activities such as water play and sand play is available for families and a fitness corner designed for all ages allows everyone to keep fit.
This is the fitness corner
3.Heritage Zone: there are mature trees and vegetation that were grown along the stretch of old Punggol Road
This is where we are able to admire the flowers and trees
4.Green Gallery: visitors are able to admire the mature trees conserved together with the natural terrain of the park while strolling
There are 5 different bridges in the Punggol Waterway
1. Jewel Bridge
The bridge is designed like a dome-shape which looks like a "jewel" and it is located at the western end of the Punggol Waterway. Visitors are able to admire the scenic view of the setting sun along the waterway in the evening.
2.Adventure Bridge
This bridge gives visitors an adventurous experience while crossing and they are able to enjoy the scenery of the park and waterway
3.Kelong Bridge
Following the alignment of the old Punggol Road, it is located in the Heritage zone that leads to a heritage trial. The design is inspired by the old Punggol and its fishing villages. This bridge gives visitors an experiential journey across the waterway.
4.Wave Bridge
This bridge is where both banks of the promenades are connected. The wavy railing designs further brings out the characteristic of the meandering and undulating landscape.
5.Sunrise Bridge
Located at the eastern part of the Punggol Waterway, the Sunrise Bridge offers the best view of the Punggol Waterway and Serangoon Reservoir. It is also designed to allow visitors to have a good view of the sunrise.
Hence, the Punggol Waterway has got many places catered for visitors to carry out their activities such as the open-spaced lawns, the sand play and water play and also platforms for cycling, jogging and strolling. One is able to enjoy the scenic view and enjoy the fresh air while strolling at the Punggol Waterway and it is an ideal place to relax, enjoy and spend time with your friends and families.
Thus, do consider Punggol Waterway to be one of your place-for-relaxation~!
Cheers~
